Shallow Hand Pump

In some areas of the tehsils of Kaloi and Diplo in Tharparkar, the underground water level is relatively high, with water accessible at depths of 50 to 100 feet. To extract this water, Dua Foundation installed small shallow well handpumps made of pipes. These handpumps are locally manufactured and are very cost-effective. These are widely used not only in Tharparkar, but also in many other districts of Sindh.

Dua Foundation has installed over 1,200 handpumps not just in Tharparkar, but also in Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Jacobabad, and the Cholistan Desert of Punjab.
