Mansoora Agriculture Farm

Mansoora Agriculture Farm, Hala, Sindh

Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia is a renowned religious institution located just 11 kilometers from the historic city of Hala in Sindh. It provides education to more than 2,000 students, 430 of whom reside in the institution’s hostels. All facilities, including education, food and accommodation, are provided completely free of charge.

The seminary has 250 acres of agricultural land, which was generously donated by Shafi Muhammad Nizamani (Late) at the time of its establishment. Over the years, the administration has cultivated various crops on this land, including wheat, mustard and cotton. Additionally, mango and date palm orchards, which were planted 30 years ago, are now a source of income for the seminary.

In October 2019, the seminary’s administration reached out to Dua Foundation for assistance in expanding their fruit tree plantation on their agricultural land to enhance productivity and income. In response, Dua Foundation representatives visited the site and proposed the cultivation of various fruit-bearing trees, such as mango, date palm, black currant (phalsa), lemon, guava, jujube (ber), dragon fruit and rose apple.

Alhamdulillah, a diverse range of saplings has been successfully planted to date at the Mansoora Agriculture Farm, including 7,500 mango, 120 date palm, 1,100 black currant 1,300 lemon, 1,200 guava, 200 jujube, 100 dragon fruit and 5 rose apple trees. The mango trees were planted using advanced high-density and ultra-high-density techniques. The high-density method facilitates for the planting of 425 Sindhri and Chaunsa mango saplings per acre, while the ultra-high-density method accommodates 1,350 Sensation mango saplings (a red American mango variety) per acre.

The trees planted in 2019 have now started to bear fruit, which were sold in the market for the first time this year. To further maximize the use of agricultural land, Dua Foundation has established a fish farm, which is used to bred various species of fish.

Water scarcity in the area was a big issue, which was successfully resolved by the Foundation with the help of generous donors. Three tubewells were installed, ensuring a steady water supply for irrigation.

Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia, with the continued support of Dua Foundation, has evolved into an environment-friendly seminary. Thousands of fruit trees now flourish on its agricultural land, setting a remarkable example for sustainable development and self-reliance.
