Water for Life Project

Relieving Thirst, Sustaining Lives

Water is a basic human need, yet millions across Pakistan lack access to clean and safe drinking water. In many communities, families are forced to rely on contaminated sources, leading to widespread waterborne diseases and poor health. Dua Foundation is committed to ensuring universal access to clean drinking water, and has initiated the ‘Water for Life’ project to address this critical issue.

Why Water Matters?

  • Health: Clean water is essential for good health. By reducing waterborne diseases, we help communities lead healthier lives.
  • Education: Children, especially girls, often miss school due to water collection duties, or illness caused by drinking unsafe water. Access to clean water allows them to attend school regularly and pursue their education.
  • Economic Empowerment: When communities have access to water, they can invest their time in economic activities instead of spending hours fetching water, leading to improved livelihoods.

Our Approach

We have adopted a multi-faceted approach to ensure that every community we serve has access to clean water.

Impact

Since the inception of the ‘Water for Life’ project, the Foundation has:
  • installed 1,200+ shallow hand pumps, 800+ community hand pumps, 700+ water wells, and 300+ solar submersible projects;
  • provided clean drinking water to approximately 130,000 families; and
  • liberated women and children from the daily mandatory task of water collection.
