Dua Foundation believes in empowering impoverished communities through providing them with the tools and resources essential to bring them out of poverty and live a life free of misery and financial distress. Through our Poverty Alleviation Program, we focus on supporting underprivileged families in Tharparkar and Karachi by creating sustainable income-generating opportunities that enable them to break the cycle of poverty and build a better life for their families.
1. Goats Distribution in Tharparkar:
In the arid region of Tharparkar, livestock is crucial to the livelihoods of rural families. Recognizing this need, Dua Foundation initiated the Goat Distribution Project that provides goats to vulnerable families, empowering them to generate income through the sale of milk, offspring and meat. Each family receives four goats, which can quickly multiply, offering a sustainable source of nutrition and financial stability. This initiative not only helps alleviate food insecurity, but also enables women, who often manage the livestock, enabling them to play a vital role in contributing to their household income.
Sewing Machines Distribution in Karachi:
Dua Foundation distributes sewing machines to the women in low-income communities in Karachi, offering them the opportunity to earn a dignified living from the comfort of their homes. This initiative is a key part of the Foundation’s broader mission to economically empower women. In addition to providing sewing machines, the Foundation offers training in machine operation and basic stitching techniques, equipping women with the skills to produce quality clothing and other fabric items for sale. This project not only enhances household income, but also promotes entrepreneurship and self-reliance among women, helping them become financially independent.
3. Food Cart Kiosks Distribution:
In urban areas like Karachi, securing stable employment is a significant challenge. To address this issue, Dua Foundation distributes food cart kiosks to unemployed individuals, enabling them to start small businesses selling snacks, beverages, and other food items in high-traffic marketplaces and streets. These portable and easy-to-setup kiosks are ideal for street vendors, who rely on high foot traffic to sustain their businesses. This initiative provides an immediate source of income for both men and women, empowering them to become self-employed and fostering economic independence.
4. Vessels & Fishing Nets Distribution to Fishermen at Kenjhar Lake:
Fishing communities around Kenjhar Lake rely on fishing as their primary source of income. However, lack of financial resources, prevent many to procure equipment, like fishing vessels & nets, necessary for safe and efficient fishing. Dua Foundation has therefore launched a project to distribute this equipment to the needy fishermen, enabling them to increase their catch, improve their income, and enhance their economic stability. This project not only helps to sustain the traditional fishing industry, but also contributes to the overall well-being of the fishing communities around Kenjhar Lake, enabling them to maintain lives of dignity and financial independence.
